Money Talks

Tom Molloy is a tutor I had in grad school, a lot of his recent work involves dollar bills and maps in some way. He often makes work by taking things away from a commonplace image (like a dollar bill or a map) to reveal something about the image that the viewer may not have seen before or to make the viewer see something in a different way. Tom Molloy currently has a show of new work on at The Rubicon Gallery in Dublin, seeing some of his new work made me think of a piece he may have overlooked. This is a little trick I learned when I was a kid, but it still seems surprisingly relevant.

I really like Tom, I think maybe I’ll make a doormat with a dollar bill on it next.
